One of the best underground groups that I have ever listened, I hope they would be able to do everyting on this world, here I wanna show you a little bit of that group:
-¿Cómo empezó todo? (how did u start on this?)
PHIL - Lee and I grew up with a lot of music being played at home, and decided that we wanted to get involved. We've been in bands for about 13 years, but this one started about 4 or 5 years ago when we got together with some guys from high school and started writing a lot of original music. We've always been absolutely determined to have success as a band; it isn't a hobby to us.


-Influencias (Influences)
PHIL - The Beatles, The Who, Johnny Marr/ The Smiths, punk/new wave bands like The Jam and Buzzcocks, The Kinks.

-Anécdotas (anecdotes)
PHIL - We once had a rehearsal cut short by the police, who'd received numerous calls from our neighbours about the noise. It turns out they'd driven past a few times and liked our music, so they were very apologetic about asking us to stop. They even asked for a signed CD.


-Habladnos sobre vuestra música (tell us something about yout music)
PHIL - It's basically four guys playing drums and guitars and singing. We all listen to rock and roll, but we also have very different tastes, and I think that gives us a sound that is pretty hard to define. It IS rock, but it's something more than that if you listen. There are elements of dance too, as well as melodies influenced by music from 50 years ago. The easiest thing to do is listen and make your own minds up.
LEE - It's just honest music that everyone can relate to.
 
-¿Qué pensáis de la escena Británica? (What do u think about  the British scene?
PHIL - The British scene has always been important to world music, and there are still a lot of great artists emerging, people like Jake Bugg and Miles Kane, and bands like The Vaccines and Band Of Skulls. But there are great bands everywhere, it just seems a bit harder to find them nowadays because people seem more interested in manufactured pop and karaoke on TV. 
LEE - There are some great bands in Britain, but most of them go unnoticed because of the disposable shit that the record companies manufacture to try and sell as many records as possible. There's not a lot of credible music about these days.

-Sois de Liverpool ¿Qué se siente sabiendo que  es una de las cunas de la música? (You are from Liverpool; what do you feel when you feel that you are on one of the most important cities of Uk (musicalli)?)
PHIL - Well we formed in Melbourne, so we have a very open, international view. But we feel a lot of good energy in this city, and a lot of people support what we do. The musical history is great here, so it's nice to be a part of that.
LEE - The people in Liverpool love music, so they support bands that emerge from here. We have a very loyal fanbase in this city.

-The Beatles o Kasabian?
PHIL - I like them both, but for different reasons...The Beatles pretty much invented modern song writing, but Kasabian are great before a night out! And good music is all about how it makes you feel so they're both excellent.
LEE - Without The Beatles, there would be no Kasabian.

-¿Queréis tocar en The cavern? )Do you wanna play on the Cavern?
PHIL - We already played at The Cavern in April; it was a fantastic show, everyone had a great time!


-¿Qué no puede faltar en un día de ensayo (What do you need whe you are on the garage playing? (beers...))
PHIL - We all need to have fun while we rehearse; it lets ideas flow. Beer is good also.
LEE - I don't drink too many beers at rehearsal. I see it as work. Party time comes after the gigs!

-MCR está a escasos minutos en tren ¿Qué destacáis de cada ciudad? (MCR is so close on train, What do you like of  both cities?)
PHIL - We love both cities...Manchester has an amazing music history (The Smiths, Joy Division, Oasis, Buzzcocks) and it's always a good night out in Manchester. Liverpool feels like home now, we have so many friends and supporters here. Both cities are great.
LEE - They're both very different, but they're both equally as important to bands.

-Reading fest o Glastombury
PHIL - Probably Glastonbury, because it's the King of Festivals.
LEE - I would be happy to play either!


-NME, BBC... los medios se vuelcan con los grupos, ¿Esperáis que os ayuden un poco?. (NME, BBC... a lot of different media groups tend to suport groupd, Do you spect to be suported by they?
PHIL - It's always nice to receive support, from anyone. We want to get our music out to everyone in the world, and support helps that.
LEE - We are currently in contact with Dave Monks of BBC Merseyside, and he likes our music. Hopefully he will play some soon.

-¿Dónde podemos encontrar vuestra música? (Where can we buy your music?)
PHIL - Our music is available on iTunes.


-Fechas próximas y novedades (News and some dates)
PHIL - We just released our debut single, and will be touring major cities in the UK in the next few months.
LEE - We also just toured in Croatia, which was amazing! The fans really enjoyed our sound. We are excited to go back to more European countries to play our music.

-La gente (entre ellos yo) quiere veros tocar en España ¿Será posible?  (People wanna se u in Spain; Will It be possible?
PHIL - We would love to come to Spain, hopefully in early 2013...if you guys want to listen, we will come!

Entrevista a The Detours

The Detours a young band that is working really hard,  their FB says "The Detours are a four piece Indie Rock n Roll band that hail from the Caernarfon are in North Wales. Driven by the raw riffs and catchy melodies The Detours are sure to be imediate and in your face. The band was formed in mid 2012 and are very ambitious for the coming months! With a few demos already recorded and up their sleeves,be sure to keep your eyes and ears open over the next few months."  and like they say: "British guitar music is dead? Not any more!"

-Why that name?

 The name was a pretty tricky one for the band,everything else sort of clicked straight away,but one day i was just brainstorming ideas for a name that included "the" and thats when it happend,and also it looks good.

-Influences
I think the new age of british music is still finding its feet a little bit, arctic monkeys were one of the first ones to properly find it and sticked to it recentley,other than that you could say the vaccines are on the right track also

-North Wales is an special place.... But if you have to choose a place for growing up as a band ... Wich one could it be?

MANCHESTER deffinatley! everythign about the place is just great, the culture,lifestyle,the scenes and just everything fits in great


-I saw your soundclound... How do you create that bloody good music?
The songs have been written in a very short time, i used to write the music/riffs just efortlessley and they just came to me, and we would just jam the songs together(me and iwan the singer) in my garage on a cold winters evening, so yeah it was pretty basic and pretty real,but trust me you havent heard it all yet!

-Do you want to go to Glastonbury, Leeds/Reading next year or go on tour around USA and Europe?

I would love to go to glasto but i would have to go for the tour for now

-5 songs you love

My 5 favourite songs.......take me away-oasis, tommorow never knows-the beatles, made of stone-the stone roses,imagine-john lennon,supersonic-oasis......very hard question haah

-A  Big fest or an small and private concert?
Big fest to start off just to get the experience! probably would enjoy the small one more though

-If you could create a fest, wich groups and where

The headliners would be...Ii would get Oasis back together, the stone roses, arctic monkeys! and it would be situated somewhere around the north of england!

-Will you come to Spain?
We will deffo come to spain,once we get someone to give us some gigs and promotion! but please spread the word and i will let you know when were coming!

Entrevista a The Chase

Este grupazo británico que empieza a hacerse un hueco en el panorama británico y dentro de poco en el panorama nacional.

-How did you start?

This line-up formed in March 2010 after various incarnations since about 2002. We've all known each other since school and share the same musical influences and drive.

--Why that name?

Completely random choice. The property development site that my house was built on in 2001 was called The Chase. Looked good so we had it.


-Influences

We're influenced by everything but the main ones that come through in our music are The Jam, Oasis, Stereophonics, Small Faces, The Coral.

-Future concerts

We're playing the legendary 100 Club, Oxford Street, London on 27th April. Dumbfest, Bordon 5th May and we're currently booking a summer tour. To be confirmed soon.

-I have listened some songs they are quite cool (How do you create it?)

I write all the songs. Generally they all start with a few chords and a melody. More often than not on an acoustic guitar. I tend to finish the music and arrangement before doing the lyrics. Music comes more naturally than words.

-Mod, Rocker, modcker or indie

Mods have always looked the best. I do like some heavier music though but if I had to choose it would be mod.



-UK or America for grow up as a group

I've never been to America so can't really comment but the UK has a rich musical heritage and we're proud to come from the same country as the likes of The Beatles, Small Faces, Stones etc. Nearly all our favourite artists are from England.

-10 songs that do you like.

Harry (guitar) went when Oasis headlined and loved it. We're trying to make arrangements to go this year. Looks like a good line-up.

-What do you think about the Indie/rock way at the  UK (ambient, new bands…)

Pretty bad. We're from Portsmouth and the music scene is pretty much non-existent. A lot of posing but not much quality music. There are still a few good bands flying the flag for real music in the UK who just need a break.

-Will you create a bandcamp?

Looks like a useful tool. May have to look into it in the near future.

-How can we get your songs/LP.

We have 2 albums available on itunes "Ever, Never or Now?" and "Slings & Arrows". 




-London, Brighton. Liverpool or Manchester for a Concert.

We've played in London a few times which are always good gigs. Haven't played the other places yet but hopefully confirming some dates this summer. 

-The best and the worst part of the concerts on small places

Love it all. We love gigging, helps if the audience are up for a good night.

-Will you come to Spain?

Just got back from Barcelona watching Noel Gallagher. Love the place. Hopefully this summer we can sort out some gigs.

Lyndon Parish (entrevista)

Esta entrevista es un regalo para mi... he de decir que este gran músico me ha inspirado dado que muchos de sus trabajos están en la banda sonora de mis últimos años...

-¿Cómo empezaste en esto de la música? 






Cuando tenía 6 o 7 años fui a casa de mi mejor amigo y toqué su piano. No tenia ni idea de lo que estaba haciendo pero me quedé halucinado con la sensación de crear música. Era magia pura para mi y nunca lo olvidé. Gracias a mis padres, siempre había mucha música en mi casa , pero no toque ningun instrumento. Mucho mas tarde con 18 años recibí mi primer instrumento ( la guitarra), y he estado tocando desde entonces. 






 -Influencias
Muchas cosas de muy diversos generos. 
Me llama el atención las artistas muy talentosos creativos y imaginativos. Últimamente me encanta los músicos americanos contemporaneos. Ahora dan mil vueltas a los británicos. Joanna Newsom es un genio, John Grant muy bueno también. Que artistas. The flaming lips, MGMT,midlake, Polyphonic Spree,Wilco,¡Hay tantos!. ¡Hay mucha buena musica ahora! La música que llamo "pop progressivo" como The Beatles, the beach boys, Jellyfish, Jason Falkner, Rufus Wainwright, Elton John, Klaatu, Tod Rundgren, David Bowie, Ben folds five etc es muy,muy importante para mi. El Rock sinfonico.(Pink floyd, Yes, Gong, king crimson,ELP) tambien,que musica mas epica!


En el rock, mis 4 grupos favoritos son Yes, Led zeppelin, the Who y Queen ,sobre todo a Yes, que considero el grupo mas completo de todos tiempos en su epoca desde 71 hasta 74 (escucha "close to the edge").que musicos, que visión! Muy avanzados!
Me encanta la música clasica, sobre todo lo del finales de siglo 19 y empieza de siglo 20, los Debussy y Stravinsky. Tambien J.S.Bach. Flipo con los grandes del los bandas sonoras del cine: John williams (star wars, E.t.) y jerry goldsmith (the omen,Star trek, poltergeist). La musica de Disney (las viejas pelis no las nuevas!) me parece precioso y muy pegadiza.
Tengo mil heroes de guitarra: Steve Howe, Django Rheinhardt, Lenny Breau, Brian May, George Harrison, Steve Hillage, julian Bream, Paco de Lucia entre muchas otras.
Me encanta el jazz y jazz fusion tipo chick corea (return to forever) , John maclaughlin (mahavishnu orchestra) y Jaco pastorius.Tiene mucha energia y es funky.
El funk también me encanta, como Stevie Wonder, James Brown, o Tower of power y el soul (Sam cooke).
La musica folk tipo 60,70 como Nick Drake, fairport convention, Bob Dylan, the band,Joni mitchell, pentangle y Don maclean tienen un lugar especial en mi corazon,
y la musica country tambien (Chet Atkins, Hank williams).
Me encanta casi todo desde la musica electronica, como Boards of canada y tangerine dream hasta algun grupo heavy metal como iron maiden! Podria estar todo el dia hablando de influencias..... 






 -¿Qué me cuentas de no band for lluvia? ¿Esperabais este reconocimiento?
No esperamos nada, son gente con los pies en el suelo, muy majos y trabajador y es muy familiar lo que tenemos. Estoy disfrutando tocando un tipo de musica que al mejor no lo haría si fuese mi grupo en solitario.



-En el concierto del 40 café te vimos tocar la guitarra y el teclado ¿Qué más sabes tocar? ¿Fuiste al conservatorio?
Pues me cosa preferida es cantar, es lo q mas me gusta, y lo que voy hacer mucho mas en el futuro muy cercano.
Toco el bajo tambin, incluso en algunos canciónes de los Sunday Drivers (e.g. Smile, everything reminds me of you) hizo yo la linea de bajo. Miguel estaba encantado porque es muy majo y tenemos un estilo parecido de tocar y componer para el instrumento. Me encanta tocar el bajo y me gustaria mucho tocarlo en un grupo algún día.
Tambien toco las baterias un poco y lo disfruto mucho pegandoles fuerte y rapido, o simplemente tocando un groove bonito.
No fui al conservatoria pero si me parece importante ampliar mi vocabulario musical e entonces he estudiado un poco por mi propio cuenta. Hay vida musical mucho más allá que lo que escuchamos en la musica rock y pop en la vida cotidiana. Hay muchas escalas, ritmos, acordes preciosos y cambios increibles. Cada uno tiene su atmosfera, su emoción y es importante ser capaz como musico transmitir cualquier emoción. Tambien ayuda mucho en comunicar tus ideas con otros musicos con mas rapidez.

-Háblanos de los Sunday drivers
Bueno, fue un tiempo muy bonito en que saboreamos exito incluso fuera de España. Lo recordaré todo mi vida con cariño. Componiendo con Jero en la casa cueva de mis padres, tocando en frente de 50,000 personas en Francia, viajando a San Francisco. El ultimo concierto en el FIB.....buenos recuerdos.

-¿Cómo fue ese discurso en el FIB2010?
Quisiera dar la gracias al grupo, el publico y a mi preciosa novia (que se moría de verguenza!) y con 2 cojones lo hizo en frente de los miles alli!
-¿De todos los artistas con los que has colaborado a quien destacas?
Paul Weller que es gran musico, Aaron Thomas, que es gran musico, Xoel Lopez, que es gran músico, Julian Maeso,que es gran musico, Miguel de Lucas, que es gran músico, y Pascu Monge que es muy gran musico.



-En una entrevista he escuchado que puedes ser Napoleón Explicate.
Viene de tocar todos los instrumentos de un grupo de rock y ser compositor. Tienes un idea mas claro y completo de una canción tuya que los demas. Si el resto del grupo no sacan bonitas ideas para la canción despues de cierto tiempo, siento el instinto en mi enseñarles lo que tienen que tocar. Un instincto que antes no has sacado por respecto a ellos y sus ideas. Hay que medirlo bien. Es necesario a veces y otras veces hay que tener mas paciencia. Al final " the song is king". 






 -5 canciones que destacarías
"good vibrations" de the beach boys por su produción, "merry christmas everyone" de Slade porque es una canción de pop perfecto y me hace sonreir, "bohemian Rhapsody" de Queen porque enseña que puedes tener complejidad en un single, "emily" de Joanna newsom porque es precioso y me hace llorar y "close to the edge" de Yes porque hay un mundo dentro de la canción y va desde casi musica industrial hasta musica orquestal pasando por musica del mundo y los beatles en su 20 minutos de duración. Me encanta su ambición; Halucinante!







-Que destacas de España y que de Reino unido
De España lo pacifica que es la gente, el vino y el tiempo desde enero hasta mayo, De Reino unido, el excéntrico y ingenuiso que son y su sentido de humor avanzada (salvo Benny Hill y algunos mas que me parecen tontos y no me gusta).

-Camden o el Mercado de fuencarral
Camden, por la comida y los dvd's! 






 -¿Con quien te gustaría actuar (vivo o muerto)? y ¿Dónde?
Con The flaming lips o Yes (o the flaming lips con Yes!) en red rocks en Denver, colorado. Un anfiteatro natural increible. Que dia seria!


-¿Cómo ves el futuro musical en España y Reino Unido?
Veo que esta mas dificil ganar dinero siendo musico, se puede dedicar menos tiempo a la música (porque hay que comer!!) y entonces el nivel musical baja un poco. Por otro lado, tocando por amor al arte siempre es bueno!

-Macro festival o sala pequeña
¡Sala pequeña! ¡Quiero ver los dedos mover! Aunque, los macro conciertos tambien pueden molar. 






 -Anécdota
Que conocí al Steven Drozd. ( baterista, teclista, guitarrista del Flaming lips).hablamos casi 2 horas de musica, y enseñamos nuestras guitarras y pedales uno al otro. Me dijo "Steve Howe (guitarrista de Yes) es DIOS!!!" asi me gano como amigo para todo la vida. Luego me invito salir al escenario con ellos vestido de una rana inchable gigante.....fue increible!
Tambien conocí a Brian Wilson en Benicassim. Era nervioso y cuando me habló, miró atrevez de mi asi estaba hablando con una persona muy lejos. Fue estraño, pero bueno, de todas formas es un genio!!!!


 -LA guitarra de tus sueños
Gibson super 400 ces (lo del Elvis 68 comeback special)....que guitarra! 






 -¿Composiciones tuyas que quieras destacar?
Las que estoy componiendo ahora por mi nuevo grupo "the magic hours"! Estoy realmente contento con las canciones porque me ponen mis pelos de punta! Eso si que es la prueba real. No suena nada como ninguna cosa aqui en españa, y espero que sorprende mucho a la gente. Es epico, pegadiza, espiritual y cosmic, con guitarras de doble mastil, harmonias a lo Queen, baterias tipo Zeppelin, melodias Beatle/floydiano, sintes moog y gongs! Ya verais en breve!
Aparte de esos siempre me ha gustado "hold on to love" de "end of maiden trip" de los Sundays y el piano y final de "Row" tambien. Oh y acabamos de hacer una canciòn in "no band" que me encanta, tiene mucha energia y rollo.es parte dos de "my end" de nuestro disco y sl mejor va ser la primera canción del nuevo disco. 






 -¿Te defines como in indie?
No lo se ¿Qué es indie? ¿Significa una musica interesante que no les interesan los grandes discograficas por razones solo comerciales? Significa independiente de los grandes o significa "shoe gazeing" Me gusta muchos grupos que eran de discograficas grandes, incluso casi todos mis favoritos eran del atlantic o algo asi. Siendo Indie entonces no significa calidad necesariamente, al menos no en gran bretaña. Si significa el "shoe gazing" uuggghhh! Que horror! Los grupos indie de los 90! Que insipido! 






 -Eres melómano
¡Si! Si eres músico y no melómano no quiero escuchar tu musica 











-¿Qué me dices de los integrantes de No band for lluvia?
Kevin es muy trabajador, y esta siempre buscando hacer algo musical de una forma unusual/original en ambos sonidos y melodias. Le gusta bromear conmigo.Tambien tiene unos pantalones cortos "Rocky's" muy bonitos.
Lluvia es muy lista, le gusta mucha a la musica y disfruta mucho componer y enterpretar un papel con cada canción. Tambien se da cuenta de los talentos de los demas, y siempre intenta utilizar ese talento por beneficio de todos.Es muy divertida y positiva.
Pascu es un músico fantastico. Escucha lo que estan haciendo los demas y siempre ententa hacer algo musical. No es nada "Greedy" con la musica. Si tiene que tocar simple, toca simple. Si tiene que tocar complicado pues asi toca. Es un musico inquieto y quiere mejorar constantamente.Me encanta como toca y aparte de eso toca varios otros instrumentos, es humilde, buen cocinero y ¡me debe un cabrito lechal!

Greta Van Fleet en Mad Cool 2024
Ante una segunda jornada el rock se hizo con todo el Mad Cool, en los escenarios principales se volvió a dejar sentir la fuerza de los directos que desde primera hora pudimos vivir con Pearl Jam como principal (pero no único reclamo).
